Negative Reinforcement is a heavy metal band that I began back in 1992 in Southern California including the logo you see above - hey, it made for cheap stickers for a struggling college student at the time! It is simple and hopefully memorable - I finally, after 16 years, applied for a proper trademark of the logo and name and that is in process. Hard to believe I have waited 16 years to do that!
The band has been my concept and music since its inception and continues since the early 90s as is now primarily myself playing all of the instruments, singing and the current recording process. I am currently working with musical friends and as they add effort to the recordings they will be noted here. I had to forego the live band scene for a period of years as need of a "real career" became a priority, but I am back with a vengeance! The modern recording technology is just so amazing it is impossible to not want to develop a new album!
Negative Reinforcement has always been a metal band, with heavy distortion and focus on good groove from the rhythm section.
Influences are very broad in terms of musical tastes, but the music tends to follow the path of great metal bands like pre-Black-album Metallica, Slayer (of course!), Machine Head, Crowbar, Pantera, on to industrial guitar tones like NIN and Rammstein, up to more modern bands such as Disturbed, Marilyn Manson and Korn (which had one of the best drummers for groove/feel in metal!). My teen years were in the 80s and the first two metal albums I ever heard were Master of Puppets by Metallica and Shout at the Devil by Motley Crue and it was downhill from there!
Please keep watching the site as I am working on the recording and production of a new album with a mixture of songs written over the years...
they will be available as they are finalized. Expect it to be a few months but it will be worth the wait!
